From San Martín de los Andes one can easily sail on lake Lácar and lake Nonthué in the Lanín National Park with its volcano of the same name (3,776 m). Amongst its plant species is the araucaria on which live unusual types of fauna such as the pudú, an endangered species, the smallest deer in the world. Nearby is Cerro Chapelco, one of the most important winter resorts in Argentina.
